Shooting Of Friend Leads To Battery Count

A Coeur d'Alene man accused of shooting another man in the back was charged with aggravated battery Monday. Jeffrey Strouse shot Michael Gunderson in the buttocks at close range with a sawed-off shotgun Saturday, according to a Kootenai County Sheriff's report.

Missing Teen Girl Found Dead In Car Sandpoint 17-Year-Old Apparently Careened Off Highway Monday

A 17-year-old Sandpoint girl who had been missing since Monday was found dead Friday night. Idaho State Police believe Jean Ann Heimsoth died when her car careened off Highway 57 about three miles north of Priest River, Idaho. Although officers believe the crash occurred about 8 p.m. Monday, her crushed 1990 Geo Metro was not found until 5 p.m. Friday.

Jurors Convict Cda Man Of Shooting Friend Jury Decides On Lesser Charge Of Attempted Second-Degree Murder

A Coeur d'Alene man accused of attempted first-degree murder was instead found guilty of a lesser charge Wednesday. After five hours of deliberation, a jury found Daniel W. Buckley guilty of attempted second-degree murder for shooting his friend in the neck with a hunting rifle.

Toddler Dies 6 Months After Near Drowning 2-Year-Old Had Survived One Hour In Icy Creek

A 2-year-old girl died Wednesday, six months after she survived an hour in the frigid waters of a flooding North Idaho Creek. Nicole Marlin died at about 3 a.m. at Sacred Heart Medical Center from an infection.

A 23-year-old Athol man was charged Monday in the death of a 2-1/2-year old boy who suffered a severe blow to the head. Kevin B. Merwin was charged with injury to a child and could face five to 10 years in prison if convicted, according to Kootenai County sheriff's officials.

Two Spokane Men Arrested After I-90 Chase

Sheriff's deputies arrested two Spokane men Monday morning after they raced a stolen pickup truck down the wrong side of Interstate 90. A Kootenai County Sheriff's deputy ran his patrol car into the fleeing truck in order to stop it from crashing into oncoming traffic, sheriff's officials said.

Driver Allegedly Endangered Kids Police Say Intoxicated Mother Was Swerving Vehicle Down I-90

Idaho State Police arrested an Olympia couple for endangering four children Wednesday after their mother swerved their vehicle dangerously down Interstate 90, police say. The children's mother, Carole E. Digaetano, 36, was arrested and charged with misdemeanor injury to a child, drunken driving and child endangerment. She was jailed in lieu of $2,422 bond.
