Teresa Dahlgren Wins Volunteer Scholarship

Teresa Dahlgren, a five-year volunteer at Kootenai Medical Center, received the 1995 Kim Svee Memorial Teen Volunteer Scholarship.

Dahlgren, a lifelong Coeur d’Alene resident, will use the $1,000 scholarship to help with expenses at North Idaho College, where she will complete prepharmacy courses. She intends to pursue a pharmacy degree at Washington State University.

Marine Pvt. Andrew Simpson, son of William and Jill Simpson, Rathdrum, recently completed 11 weeks of intensive training at the Marine Corps Recruit Depot in San Diego. Simpson is a 1994 graduate of Lakeland High School.

The following North Idaho students were named to the dean’s list for spring semester at the University of Oregon: Sarah Marie Hollopeter, Grangeville, Idaho; Angela Marie Bentz, Lewiston; Travis Thomas Carter, Coeur d’Alene; Susan Morrison Moss, Coeur d’Alene; Jason Robert Leubner, Hayden Lake; Laura A. Hammond, St. Maries; and Dena Sarita Neese, Troy, Idaho.

Vicki Roberge, Coeur d’Alene, is a member of the Sigma Tau Chapter of Kappa Delta Housing Association, Washington State University, which was awarded the Outstanding House Corporation Award at the sorority’s national convention in Phoenix.

Tawna Cazier, Hayden Lake, and Mahmood Sheikh, Moscow, received scholarships with the Discover Card Tribute Award for scholastic and leadership achievements.

Cazier, who won a $2,500 scholarship, also recently was runner-up for an editorial contest sponsored by The Spokesman-Review and Parade Magazine. She is a junior at Lakeland High.

Sheikh, a junior at Moscow Senior High, received a $1,000 scholarship. He played a key role in local efforts addressing community policing and governmental education for teenagers.

Paul Best, a 1988 graduate of Lakeland High School in Rathdrum, has enlisted in the Army’s delayed entry program. Best and his wife, Toreana, live in Priest River, Idaho.
