Cda High Grads Form Alumni Group
A handful of Coeur d’Alene High School graduates are forming an alumni association to support their former school.
Socorro Bomar, a 1989 alumna and school district employee, is one of the organizers.
Asked why she wanted to form the alumni group, she said, “I’m just a die-hard Viking, I am.”
The association will start small - attending homecoming festivities and perhaps entering the parade. Bomar hopes to participate in other school activities and have a willing troupe of volunteers for school events.
Eventually, the association may raise money for scholarships and school improvements.
Bomar said the construction of Lake City High School provided some motivation for the formation of the Coeur d’Alene High alumni association.
“I hear a lot of ‘The new high school, the old high school’,” she said. “The district’s doing the best it can to keep the high schools equal.”
The last two bond levies failed that would have financed the second phase of improvements to the “old” high school.
