Chocolate Hanukkah Stars

Recipe from Hershey’s Cocoa.

1/2 cup (1 stick) butter or margarine, softened

1 cup sugar

2 eggs

2 cups all-purpose flour

1/2 cup cocoa

1 teaspoon baking powder

1/2 teaspoon baking soda

1/2 teaspoon salt

Powdered sugar

In a large bowl, beat butter, sugar and eggs on medium speed of electric mixer until light and fluffy.

Stir together flour, cocoa, baking powder, baking soda and salt; add to butter mixture, beating until well blended. Cover; refrigerate dough until firm enough to handle.

Heat oven to 350 degrees. On lightly floured surface, roll dough to 1/8-inch thickness; cut with star-shaped cookie cutter. Place on ungreased cookie sheet.

Bake for 5 to 7 minutes or until no imprint remains when touched lightly in center. Cool for 1 minute; remove from cookie sheet to wire rack. Cool completely. Sprinkle with powdered sugar.

Yield: About 4 dozen cookies.
