Stupid Movies Appear To Be Wise Investment
Hey, if a movie about a guy with an IQ of 75 can make $300 million, and another about two guys whose combined IQ probably doesn’t reach that figure is this holiday’s biggest hit, look out.
On the heels of “Forrest Gump” and “Dumb and Dumber,” there’s a whole slew of stupid movies in the works. From the Hollywood Reporter, a few of the no-brainers in various stages of development: “Dummies,” “The Stupids,” “Clueless,” “The Magnificent Idiot” and “The Magnificent Dope.”
Brando coming in 2 movies
Gone are the days when Marlon Brando kept claiming he was making his very last movie. The actor, fresh from promoting his autobiography, will next star in a remake of 1977’s “The Island of Dr. Moreau,” which itself was a remake of 1933’s “The Island of Lost Souls.” The H.G. Wells fantasy is about a scientist who cross-breeds humans with animals.
Meanwhile, Brando, who owns his own island, will be seen onscreen this spring as a psychiatrist in “Don Juan Demarco and the Centerfold.” Johnny Depp thinks he’s Don Juan; Brando believes him; Faye Dunaway is Brando’s wife.
Harrelson-Snipes reunite
Looks as if Woody Harrelson will star in “Sun Chasers,” the next film from director Michael Cimino. The plot involves a terminally ill man who takes his doctor hostage in his search for a cure. Harrelson will be coming off “Money Train,” which reunites him with his “White Men Can’t Jump” co-star, Wesley Snipes. The pair play cops in the middle of a heist of a subway money train. Their characters will also be foster brothers(cute).
