All That Name-Calling? It’s Just A Memory Now

Compiled By Staff Writer Rick Bo

You remember, of course, that nasty business between Faye Dunaway and Andrew Lloyd Webber after she was fired from “Sunset Boulevard” because of an alleged lack of singing talent.

They’re both sounding some sweeter notes now in the wake of a reported $1.5 million settlement of Dunaway’s lawsuit over the matter.

“I am pleased that we are able to patch up what has been a very painful public rift between us without an extensive courtroom battle,” Dunaway said Monday, lauding Lloyd Webber’s “memorable musical theater.”

Lloyd Webber, praising Dunaway’s “extraordinary talent,” added: “I hope our paths cross one day in happier circumstances where my regard for her abilities can be shown more fruitfully.”

Rod Stewart, on his romantic past (in People magazine): “It’s impossible for me to remember everybody I’ve made love to. I try and point them out if (wife) Rachel and I are out together.”

The crisis appears to be right on schedule

Kevin Costner turns 40 today.

Better be careful when playing with the pros

The last word (we hope) on the Connie Chung-Newt Gingrich’s mom “bitch” affair, from Chung herself in the new TV Guide: “Anyone who saw the whole story would agree (Mrs. Gingrich) was engaging in an informal conversation that took on a playful tone. What I said worked in the context of the interview. I have no regrets.”

Which is always preferable to free basing

Washington Post reporter Patrice Gaines, a guest on the show in which Oprah Winfrey last week confessed her cocaine use years ago, said former friends had long threatened to turn Winfrey in to the tabloids. “Now, those people have no power over her,” Gaines said. “She chose to free herself.”

Or appeared in the mirror above the bed

Our favorite line from the Prince Charles-Camilla Parker Bowles expose in the Sun (headlined “Charles’ nights of sex and wine in Camilla’s 4-poster”): Around her place, Charles came to be “known as the Prince of Darkness because he never turned up in daylight.”

Yes, you too could be babbling to Brooks

Attention, Garth Brooks fans: Call him toll-free today between 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. PST at 1-800-GARTH-TX. If you get through, and he likes the sound of your voice, you might be invited to call back this evening during his live NBC television special, “Garth Brooks - The Hits.”

Kiss and tell? She wouldn’t remember

Former dancer Maude Russell Rutherford, now 98, cautioning prospective suitors: “I ain’t spending nothing but the evening, and I ain’t putting out nothing but the lights.”
