Fix Kids A Lunch When High-Fat Food Is Offered At School

Fort Lauderdale Sun-Sentinel

Dietitian Elaine MoquetteMagee, author of “200 Kid-Tested Ways to Lower the Fat in Your Child’s Favorite Foods” says you should have your kids brown bag it when the following high-fat dishes are on the school lunch menu: Fish sticks, corn dogs, chicken nuggets, macaroni and cheese and sausages.

But send your kids with lunch money when these lower-fat options are offered: chili, turkey sandwiches, beef and bean burritos, sloppy Joes and baked fish.
