Storm Sewer Woes Close Schools

Associated Press

Classes have been called off at two schools after backed-up storm sewers caused extensive water damage.

Heavy rains Saturday night led to the damage at Bremerton Junior High School and View Ridge Elementary, school district spokeswoman Joan Dingfield said. The schools were closed Monday for cleaning and will remain closed today, she said.

The junior high school needs major electrical repairs, she said.

There will be no school today for the junior high students. Students at View Ridge also will stay home, except for fourth- and fifth-graders, who are going on field trips, the district said.
