HEISMAN HOPEFULS
Leeland McElroy, RB/Sr., Texas A&M: The senior running back sat out the game against SMU with an ankle sprain.
Tommie Frazier, QB/Sr., Nebraska: In Huskers’ 57-0 rout over Big Eight foe Missouri, Frazier ran for three touchdowns and passed for two. He also became the school’s career leader in touchdowns with 64, breaking Steve Taylor’s record of 62 from 1985-88.
Keyshawn Johnson, Sr./WR, USC: In Trojans’ 26-14 win, the senior receiver finished with 85 yards on nine receptions.
Eddie George, RB/Sr., Ohio State: In Buckeyes’ 27-16 win over Wisconsin, George accounted for three TDs, his longest a 51-yard run. He finished with 141 yards on 26 carries.
Warrick Dunn, RB/Jr., FSU: In Noles’ 72-13 win over Wake Forest, Dunn ran for more than 100 yards for the sixth straight game this year, gaining 112 yards on 11 carries. Dunn has gained 801 yards and averages 10.3 yards a carry.
Danny Wuerffel, QB, Florida: In Gators’ 48-38 thriller over Auburn, Wuerffel threw for 380 yards, including three touchdown passes.
Troy Davis, RB/So., Iowa State: In Cyclones’ 34-7 loss to Kansas, the sophomore might have taken himself out of the Heisman race with a poor showing. He was 80 yards below his nation-leading rushing average. Davis, a week after becoming the first sophomore in NCAA history to rush for more than 1,000 yards in his first five games, had 120 yards on 30 carries.

Florida State is averaging 66 points in Atlantic Coast

Arnold Mickens of Butler was held to under 100 yards rushing for the first time in 16 games as Dayton permitted Mickens just 71 yards in its 49-13 win.
Mike Alstott became Purdue’s all-time scorer with a touchdown in the Boilermakers’ 26-23 loss to Penn State. Alstott, already was the school’s career leader with 34 rushing touchdowns, passed Leroy Keyes with his 224th point.
Brice Hunter of Georgia broke Lindsay Scott’s career receiving yards record with 163 yards in the Bulldogs’ 17-6 win over Vanderbilt.
Darnell Autry carried 28 times for 169 yards and three touchdowns and tied a Northwestern record with his seventh straight 100-yard game as the Wildcats beat Minnesota 27-17.
