Teen Found Hanged On Tubbs Hill

From Staff Reports

The body of a young man was found hanging from a tree on Tubbs Hill on Tuesday afternoon.

The youth appears to have committed suicide by hanging himself with a rope, according to Coeur d’Alene police.

Investigators have not yet identified the body. However, it does appear he was in his late teens, said Capt. Carl Bergh.

Two women were walking along a trail near the top of Tubbs Hill shortly before 2 p.m. when they spotted the youth hanging from a pine tree, Lt. Don Jiran said.

The two women ran to the nearby police station at the bottom of the hill and reported what they found.

Investigators found the youth already dead, wearing a tie-dyed T-shirt and jeans. His toes could barely reach a slope under the tree.

Investigators do not believe foul play is involved. The youth may have jumped off of a ledge near the tree, Jiran said.

No note, identification or personal items were found near the body. Investigators are trying to identify the young man through runaway and missing persons reports, Bergh said.
