Two Hurt In Crash Near Arboretum

Two people were critically injured in a two-car crash Sunday afternoon on Sunset Boulevard.

The head-on collision occurred near Finch Arboretum at 1:45 p.m., when an eastbound car drifted into oncoming traffic.

The 17-year-old driver of the eastbound Ford Festiva suffered multiple fractures and internal injuries, police said. She was undergoing surgery Sunday night.

Her 6-year-old passenger suffered life-threatening injuries. The boy was listed in critical condition Sunday night.

The couple in the westbound car escaped serious injury.

Police did not release names of the victims.

Several witnesses assisted by blocking off Sunset at the top and bottom of the hill. Others administered first aid, and one motorist called 911 on a cellular phone.
