Barkley May Appear On ‘Drew’

The Round Mound of Rebound may shoot a few with the corpulent crew-cut comedian this fall. Drew Carey told TV critics that he ran into basketball Dream Team stalwart Charles Barkley over the weekend at the Olympics in Atlanta.

“He was at the House of Blues, drinking and smoking a big cigar, ‘cause he was getting in shape for the game,” Carey cracked.

Sir Charles asked for a cameo on “The Drew Carey Show,” and Carey said it might be fun to pair him with Cleveland Indians bad boy Albert Belle, “as a couple of real polite guys.” Carey and crew have been trying to get Belle on their ABC series, set in Cleveland, almost since it debuted.

Barring the Barkley-Belle pairing, Carey said, it might be fun to match the burly Belle against Drew’s tormentor, Mimi the mascara mama (Kathy Kinney).
