New faces:

Magnuson, McHugh & Co., a Coeur d’Alene accounting firm, has hired the following people:

Mollie Brinkley is a tax accountant. Brinkley, who earned her CPA certificate in 1993, most recently worked for McFarland and Alton in Spokane.

Tanya Fueller joins the firm as an accountant. Fueller previously worked for Flynn and Senger CPAs in Bismark, N.D.

Thomas Burns has joined Telect as distribution manager for the communications market unit. Burns, who oversees Telect’s distribution sales channels, previously held various positions with IBM, Compaq Computer and Key Tronic.

Dakotah Direct Inc. has hired Eric Feenstra as an account manager. Feenstra worked in the financial services industry for the last six years, most recently with a local mortgage company.

Henry Montgomery, a licensed psychologist, has joined Neuroeducation, a group of counselors and psychologists who assess and treat children or adolescents who have learning and/or emotional challenges. Montgomery earned a PhD from the University of New Mexico and completed an internship at Louisiana State University School of Medicine.

Karen Kelly, has been named the new director of development at the Intercollegiate Center for Nursing Education. Kelly is a former KXLY-TV news anchor.

John Frady is the new coordinator of adult case management services for Spokane Mental Health. Frady will oversee program operations, supervise case management staff and participate in program development and planning. He is a certified mental health counselor in the state of Washington.

Moving up:

Metropolitan Mortgage & Securities announced the following officers elected at their annual Board of Directors meeting: C. Paul Sandifur Jr., CEO/ chairman of the board; Bruce Blohowiak, executive vice president/ COO; Mike Kirk, senior vice president, production; Jay Caferro, senior vice president, underwriting; Dan O’Neill, vice president, information systems; Doug Greybill, vice president, secondary marketing; Tracy Z, vice president, production; Susan Thomas, vice president, legal; Elaine Holliday, assistant vice president, underwriting; Lee Miller, assistant vice president, procedures; Bob Ness, assistant vice president/assistant controller; Sandy Roistacher, assistant vice president/art and advertising director; Tom Deluzio, assistant vice president, underwriting.

Spokane Mortgage Co., a subsidiary of Metropolitan Mortgage, elected the following officers: Linda Lee Kershner, assistant vice president, default control; Laurie Hahn, assistant vice president, servicing; and Diane Kofmehl, assistant vice president, adjustment and modification center.

Dixie Costigan has been promoted to adult treatment services coordinator for Spokane Mental Health. A registered nurse, she oversees clinical work, supervises staff, coordinates treatment services and participates in program development and planning.

Ronald Phillips Jr., head of Sallie Mae’s Loan Servicing Center/ Washington in Spokane, was promoted to assistant vice president at Sallie Mae. Phillips, who joined Sallie Mae in 1981, was named director of operations at the student loan servicing facility when it opened last year.

Clyde E. Conklin has been named president and chief executive office of Lewiston-based First Federal Bank of Idaho, replacing William S. McVicars who has retired after 34 years with the bank. Conklin, who joined First Federal in 1987, previously was senior vice president of lending. He has been in the banking industry since 1973, holding positions in Montana, Washington and Idaho.

Larry K. Moxley, First Federal’s senior vice president of finance, has assumed the additional title of chief financial officer. He started as a bookkeeper in 1973 and subsequently served as controller and vice president of finance. He was promoted to senior vice president of finance in 1993.

Starting up:

Dean Batson has started KeyComm, a Web development and Internet marketing company servicing the Spokane and Coeur d’Alene areas. KeyComm will design, implement and market Web sites for businesses and organizations and offers free on-site introduction to the business opportunities on the World-Wide Web. Batson has more than six years of experience in publishing, advertising, computers and graphics.

Select Comfort Corp. has opened a retail store at Northtown Mall. Minneapolis-based Select Comfort, which markets patented mattresses, has more than 70 retail outlets nationwide.

Transactions:

A&W Restaurant at Northtown Mall has changed ownership. Duane and Stephanie Behrens purchased the restaurant from Jim Norrie. Duane Behrens previously managed the Spokane Valley Taco Time.

Elected:

Janet Hasson, marketing and consumer sales manager for The Spokesman-Review, has been elected vice chairperson of Group Health Northwest’s board of directors. Hasson also serves as chair of the organization’s Strategic Planning and Marketing Committee, the Option’s Subcommittee and the Legislative Affairs Committee.

The Inland Northwest Electrical League’s officers for 1996 are: David Bowman, Hubbell Inc., president; Larry Bryant, Kootenai Electric Cooperative, president-elect; Barbara Bjerk, Graybar Electric Co., secretary; Doug Kaer, Cadet Manufacturing, treasurer; and Barbara Barker, Columbia Lighting, past president.
