Teams To Make Another Run
The Lakeland and Wallace high school baseball teams went into last season expecting to capture a trophy at their respective state tournaments.
Lakeland’s season ended abruptly at district while Wallace lost two heartbreakers at state.
Both teams return a strong nucleus and approach their seasons the same way they did a year ago.
Anything less than a high finish at state will be disappointing.
St. Maries figures to challenge Lakeland for the A-2 district title. The top two teams advance to state, which will be held at Northwest Nazarene College in Nampa May 16-18.
Wallace and Lakeside square off in two doubleheaders to decide a berth to the State A-3 Tournament, which will be held in Lewiston on May 16-18. The first state-qualifying twinbill is Saturday, when Lakeside visits Wallace at 11 a.m.
