These Ideas Are Really Nuts

Here are some ideas for using different types of nuts:

Sprinkle chopped walnuts and crumbled Gorgonzola on salad greens; toss with a light vinaigrette dressing.

Sprinkle toasted nuts on frozen yogurt for dessert.

Sprinkle toasted almonds, cashews or pine nuts on any stir-fry dish.

Mix bread crumbs, toasted and finely chopped walnuts or hazelnuts and melted butter and press into a springform pan as the crust for a savory tart.

Fold toasted pecans and cream cheese into an omelet.

Mix 1/2 cup toasted and finely chopped cashews, pecans or hazelnuts with 1 stick of softened butter; use on pancakes or muffins.

Stir toasted slivered almonds into sauteed greens.

Stuff Cornish game hens with a mixture of wild rice, pecans or hazelnuts, chopped dried apricots, finely chopped celery, and a little finely chopped onion, moistened with chicken stock.
