Souped-Up Bouillon
The secret to a good soup is a good base. But few folks have time to slowly simmer stocks these days, and canned broths and boullion powders or cubes don’t always quite cut it.
Better Than Bouillon is a flavorful concentrate that comes in eight varieties: chicken, beef, ham, clam, lobster, chili pepper, vegetable and mushroom. Just mix 1 teaspoon with 1 cup of boiling water to make a rich stock.
And since man does not live by soup alone, you can use it as a seasoning in everything from omelets to meatloaf to mashed potatoes, too.
Price: About $4 for 8 ounces (makes 40 servings).
Available: Rosauers, Albertson’s and Tidyman’s supermarkets.
