Fresh Flour In Bloom

Baking bread can be a real grind, particularly if you’re doing it the healthy way.

Flour Mill Natural Foods in Hayden Lake grinds 25 fresh flours, all certified as organic, to make 40 breads - including an earthy black Russian rye, with cocoa, caraway and fennel, and a hearty, oat-laced English cottage loaf (pictured).

There are also a dozen types of English muffins, as well as a variety of pancake and muffin mixes.

Price: $1.50 to $2.50 for various breads.

Available: In Spokane at Lorien Herbs & Natural Foods, Total Health Center, Huckleberry’s Fresh Market and A&T Specialty Foods, and in Hayden Lake at Flour Mill Natural Foods (208-772-2911).
