Panhandle Groups Get Grants For Work With Kids
Two Panhandle groups that work to prevent child abuse have received grants distributed by the Idaho Children’s Trust Fund.
With its $10,000 in federal money, the Kootenai County-based Idaho Child Abuse Response Education hopes to expand into Benewah County, ICARE director Janna Robnett said Wednesday.
ICARE also plans to develop a resource library for parents and buy training manuals, Robnett said. The 5-year-old organization is working with 20 families, a number Robnett expects to grow significantly in the next year.
The Parenting Education Network in Boundary County has received $2,990. That money comes from a fund generated mostly by state income tax check-offs designated for child abuse prevention.
The money will be used for six-week parenting classes and support of a lending library for parents.
Statewide, $24,700 in state money and $100,000 in federal grants were distributed.
