Moscow Rolls To Another Easy Iml Victory

Prep basketball

The Moscow Bears remained undefeated in Intermountain League play as they trounced the Kellogg Wildcats 84-48 in Moscow.

The Bears (4-0, 7-3) forced 20 Kellogg turnovers and shot 33 of 45 from the field. Tony Rinaldi led Moscow with 16 points and teammates Chad Curtis and Kirby Brown finished with 15 and 11 respectively.

Nathan Corkill led the Wildcats (2-2, 7-5) with 15 points and Mike Mercado had 12.

At St. Maries, the Lumberjacks (2-2, 5-7) hit four 3-pointers early and never relinquished the lead as they swept past the Lakeland Hawks (2-3, 4-6) 58-47.

Ty Konkright hit three 3-pointers to lead St. Maries with 15 points. Ryan Eccles and Mark Raebel finished with 13 and 10 points respectively.

North Star League

In the only league game, Lakeside’s defense caused 30 Clark Fork turnovers as the Knights crushed the Wampus Cats 84-43 at Clark Fork.

Andrew Twiss led with 24 points and nine rebounds. James Twoteeth had 22 points with the help five 3-pointers as the Knights (2-0, 9-1) shot 45 percent from the field. Clark Fork’s (0-3, 5-6) Brent Stevens had 16 points.

Non-League Idaho boys

The Lake City Timberwolves JV made three of four foul shots in the second overtime to beat the Mullan Tigers 61-58 at Mullan (10-3).

Dave Clark’s layup at the end of regulation tied the score. Clark was fouled, but when he missed the foul shot, the game went into overtime.

Chad Bramlett hammered in five 3-pointers in the game for Lake City, while Chris Angle led all players with 28 points. Bramlett finished with 19 points. Clark scored 10.

At Bonners Ferry, Alan Ashby was 7 of 7 from the floor and scored 15 points and Adam Hiatt finished with 20 points to lead the Badgers (6-5) over the Wallace Miners (1-10) 77-45. Bonners Ferry’s Tyler Hurst led with 9 rebounds.

Idaho girls

Non-League

The Moscow Bears started fast and went on to pummel the Kellogg Wildcats 78-34 in non-league action Saturday night in Kellogg.

Moscow (7-7) led 33-15 heading into halftime. Amber Matthews of the Bears led all players in scoring with 19 points. She was 7 of 8 from the foul line. Teammate Anna Allen finished with 16 points.

Amy Lemon led the Wildcats (4-11) with 17 points, helped by five 3-pointers.

In other non-league action, Missy Ennis notched 29 points to lead the Priest River Spartans (9-5) past the Orofino Maniacs 67-34 in Orofino.

Ennis was 14 of 24 from the floor and finished the game with 10 rebounds, eight steals and six assists.

Senior point guard Katy Duley came close to notching a triple double with 12 points, 13 assists and 8 steals.

Inland Empire League

Lewiston led 38-10 at halftime and never looked back as the Bengals (4-1, 14-1) beat the Sandpoint Bulldogs (0-5, 2-14) 59-29 on the road.

The Bengals’ Sara McEachern led all scorers with 16 points and Laura Bloom was close with 14.

North Star League

Lakeside held the Clark Fork Wampus Cats to five points in the first half, and a 33-10 lead after three quarters, as the Knights (4-1, 8-6) beat Clark Fork 53-23 on the road. Lakeside avenged an earlier loss to Clark Fork (2-3, 4-11) at home, 44-41. Kelly and Jill Miller had seven and five rebounds respectively for the Knights.

Washington boys

ACH 55, Ritzville 46

Sixth-ranked Almira/Coulee-Hartline (12-2, 9-2) avenged an earlier loss to the third-ranked Ritzville Broncos (14-2, 9-2) with a victory and moved into a tie for first place in the West Division of the Bi-County League in Hartline.

The Warriors jumped out to an 18-8 first-quarter lead and never looked back. Brandon Leander and Dan Pate each scored 13 for ACH.

The Broncos were led by the 13 points of John Galbreath.

Jared Praetorius topped Odessa with 14 points, while Beau Tonasket and Casey Kuchenbuch each scored 12 for Wilbur-Creston.
