UI Dean Of Mines To Resign In June

From Staff And Wire Reports

The dean of the University of Idaho College of Mines and Earth Resources has announced plans to step down June 10.

Robert Bartlett has been dean for 10 years.

Bartlett, 64, is also director of the Idaho Geological Survey and a professor of metallurgical engineering. He came to the UI in 1987 to serve as dean. He will keep his teaching and research duties part-time.

Reflecting on his decade as Dean, Bartlett cited two major accomplishments. “The excellent young faculty members we’ve hired and the new Earth Resources Building are the things I’m most proud of,” he said.

A search committee has been named to identify Bartlett’s successor. It will be chaired by Charles Hatch, dean of the College of Forestry, Wildlife and Range Sciences. , DataTimes
