Cda Liquidator And Auctioneer Joins List In Alleged Antiques Scam

A Coeur d’Alene antique liquidator and auctioneer is the latest to report a major loss after a Post Falls man skipped town with a haul of antiques and cash.

Lawrence W. Davis, owner of Coyote Liquidators/Auctioneers, said he gave Jimmy Laughnan $40,000 to purchase antiques for an action. Laughnan used antiques in his own store, Heaven’s Treasures on Government Way, as collateral, according to police reports.

Laughnan had told Davis he planned to purchase 10 shipping containers filled with antiques for a large auction to be held July 12.

After receiving the original $40,000, Laughnan said he needed an additional $12,500 to purchase antiques from a Chelan residence but would pay Davis back with profits from the auction.

The $52,000 theft brings the amount of lost property and cash to well over $200,000. Laughnan is accused of grand theft and fraud for allegedly leaving town with investors’ money and antiques.

Authorities are still seeking Laughnan, who has a $25,000 warrant out for his arrest.
