Charles Chongaway Sr. Post Falls
At his request, no service will be held for Charles G. Chongaway Sr., 77. Yates Funeral Home in Coeur d’Alene is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Chongaway, who was born in Pittsburgh, Pa., died Monday.
He grew up in Pittsburgh and worked for Allis-Chalmers there.
Mr. Chongaway married Leona Gentile in Pittsburgh, and she died in 1968.
He later moved to Post Falls to be near family.
Survivors include a son, Chuck Chongaway Jr. of Post Falls; two daughters, Carol Zahn and Elizabeth Drew, both of California; a sister and five grandchildren.

Scott Carrier Sandpoint
Memorial service for Scott Carrier, 37, will be today at 7 p.m. at Coffelt’s Moon Chapel in Sandpoint. Coffelt Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Carrier, who died Thursday, was born in Germany.
He grew up in Illinois and graduated from high school there.
He moved to Sandpoint in 1988 and was a construction worker.
Survivors include his parents, Richard and Carolyn Carrier of Sandpoint; a brother, Dan Carrier of Boston; a sister, Saige; and his grandmother, Mary Cano of Colorado.
Leslie Harding Sandpoint
Service for Leslie Virgil Harding, 74, will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Coffelt’s Moon Chapel in Sandpoint. Coffelt Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Harding, who was born in Minnesota died Saturday.
He grew up in Coeur d’Alene and graduated from Coeur d’Alene High School.
Mr. Harding joined the Navy and completed boot camp at Farragut Naval Station before being stationed in California and serving in the Pacific.
He also served as a corpsman for the Marine Corps.
Mr. Harding married Joyce Bolstad in Australia in 1946 and moved to Spokane, where he worked as a telegraph operator.
He moved to Sandpoint in 1955 and worked as a mail carrier, retiring in 1984.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Ronnie Lindholm of California, and Betty Harding of Colville, Wash.; a brother, Douglas Harding of Minnesota; and a grandson, Ryan.

Marie Lee Coeur d’Alene
Vigil service for Marie E. Lee, 88, will be Thursday at Yates Funeral Home in Coeur d’Alene. Funeral Mass will be Friday at 10 a.m. at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Coeur d’Alene. Burial will follow at Forest Cemetery.
Miss Lee, who was born in Vancouver, Wash., died Monday.
She graduated from high school in Spokane and had worked as a bookkeeper for J.C. Penney in Spokane for many years.
She later moved to San Francisco where she worked as a bookkeeper and retired in 1984.
She moved to Coeur d’Alene after retirement and was a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church.
Miss Lee is survived by a sister-in-law, Edith Lee of Hayden.
Allen Jeske Rosalia, Wash.
Visitation for Allen “Al” Jeske, 51, is scheduled form noon to 9 p.m. today at the Schanzenbach Funeral Home in Rosalia. Graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at the Spangle (Wash.) Cemetery.
Mr. Jeske, who was born in Spokane, died Saturday.
He and his brother operated a commercial carpet-laying company.
He was a member of Spangle Masonic Lodge No. 131 and the El Katif Shrine.
Survivors include his wife of 32 years, Connie; three daughters, Sandy Lasz of Waverly, Becky Jeske of Rockford and LeAnn Sills of Fairfield; a son, Brad Jeske of Spangle; his mother, Dora Jeske of Spokane; a sister, Shirley Roth, and a brother, Randy Jeske, both of Spokane; and seven grandchildren.

Fred Chandler Chewelah, Wash.
Service for Fred Lloyd Chandler, 75, will be at 2 p.m. today at Schanzenbach Funeral Home in Chewelah. Burial will be at Chewelah Memorial Park.
Mr. Chandler, who was born in South Dakota, died Saturday.
He served in the Army Air Corps as a tail gunner on a B-29 bomber during World War II.
In 1965 he married Carol Bayne in Coeur d’Alene, and they operated a dairy farm in the Burnt Valley area near Chewelah.
In 1972 they moved to the Jump Off Joe area near Valley, Wash., and continued to farm until moving to Chewelah five years ago.
He was a member of American Legion Post No. 54, the Chewelah Grange, the Dairymen’s Association and the All West Breeder’s Association.
Mr. Chandler is survived by his wife; two sons, Brian and Joseph Chandler, both of Deer Park; two daughters, Jill Metlow of Valley and Holly Pierre of Kettle Falls, Wash.; three brothers, Cliff and Francis Chandler, both of Hayden Lake, Idaho, and Ward Chandler of Silverton, Idaho; four sisters, Caryl Basso of Guam, Evie Bossingham of Coeur d’Alene, Muriel Lynch of Great Falls, Mont., and Marge Stallman of Coeur d’Alene; and four grandchildren.
Bernice Hayes Colfax, Wash.
Memorial service for Bernice Hayes, 79, will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at Colfax United Methodist Church. Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Hayes, who was born in Wilson Creek, Wash., died Saturday.
She was a 48-year Colfax resident and a homemaker.
Mrs. Hayes was a member of the Colfax Women’s Club, the Colfax Grange and the Sheriff’s Posse.
Survivors included her husband, Jim; a son, Lee Hayes of Edmonds, Wash.; a daughter, Rose Withers of Sandpoint; a sister, Eileen Tuttle of Seattle; a brother, Ken Rosenberg of Addy, Wash.; and five grandchildren.

John Finney Jr. Spokane
Memorial service for John M. Finney Jr. will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Manito United Methodist Church. Thornhill Valley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Private inurnment will be in Sterling, Mass.
Mr. Finney, who was born in Harrison, Idaho, died Friday. He was 82.
He graduated from Boston University Theological Seminary and served as a pastor in the Pacific Northwest Conference of the United Methodist Church. He retired in 1979.
In 1978 he married Elfie Goodrich in Lynden, Wash., and they moved to Spokane.
He was a member of the Grange and the Kiwanis Club.
Mr. Finney is survived by his wife; a son, John Finney of Tacoma; two daughters, Mary Ann Rehm of Mount Vernon, Wash., and Rachel Souza of Tacoma; a brother, David Finney of Spokane; and a sister, Ruth Laughlin of Mansfield Center, Conn.
Alverna Cunnington Sandpoint
Visitation for Alverna Joy Cunnington, 61, will be today at Coffelt’s Moon Chapel until 5 p.m. Service will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at the chapel in Sandpoint. Burial will be Saturday in Tetonia, Idaho. Mrs. Cunnington, who was born in Seattle, died Saturday.
She grew up in the Lingston and Rose Lake, Idaho, areas and graduated from Rose Lake High School.
She moved to Sandpoint and married Larry Cunnington in 1967.
Mrs. Cunnington had worked as a waitress for the Pastime Cafe. She had also lived in Libby, Mont., where she worked as a waitress and bus driver.
She moved to Centralia, Wash., in 1974 and drove a school bus for 20 years, retiring in 1994. She later returned to Sandpoint and was a member of various bowling leagues.
Survivors include her husband; a son, John Hames of Montana; two daughters, Jane Butterfield of Centralia and Crystal Hames of Colorado; two stepchildren, Tammy Cunnington of Kent, Wash., and Larry Cunnington of Vancouver, Wash.; two brothers, John White of Connell, Wash., and Jim White of Post Falls; two sisters, JoElla Backing of Oregon and Harriette Wales of Spokane; numerous grandchildren. and one great-grandchild.
Wanda Turner Newport, Wash.
Private service will be held for Wanda L. Turner, 68, at her request. Sherman-Knapp Funeral Home in Newport is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Turner, who died Sunday, was born in Portsmouth, Ohio.
She was a homemaker and had lived in Newport for 35 years.
In 1945 she married Lloyd Turner in Munising, Mich. They later moved to Newport.
She is survived by her husband; a son, David Turner of Newport; three daughters, Nancy and Barbara Balcom, and Gale Knoles, all of Sacheen Lake, Wash.; a brother, Arthur Hagerman of Michigan; two sisters, Betty-Lou Miller of Michigan and Zelda Elsner of Newport; 14 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Orlando ‘Tex’ Perguidi Bayview, Idaho
Visitation for Orlando “Tex” Perguidi, 76, is scheduled from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Yates Funeral Home, Hayden Chapel. Service will be Friday at 1 p.m. at the Hayden Chapel. Burial will follow at Coeur d’Alene Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Perguidi, who was born in Jersey City, N.J., died Sunday.
He grew up in New Jersey and was married to Nancy Brucale for 25 years. They later divorced.
He moved to Coeur d’Alene in 1972 and married Bernice Yandt in Coeur d’Alene in 1981. Mr. Perguidi moved to Bayview in 1981.
He was a musician.
Survivors include his wife, Bernice; a son, Raymond Perguidi and a daughter, Barbara Greenfeld, both of New Mexico; three stepsons, Ron Yandt of Spokane, Dennis Yandt of Hayden Lake and David Yandt of California; a sister, Rosalinda Schleim of New Jersey; 18 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Max Henning Spokane
Service for Max Henning, 81, will be at 11 a.m. today at the Malden (Wash.) Community Church. Burial will be at the Oakesdale (Wash.) Cemetery. Schanzenbach Funeral Home in Rosalia is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Henning died Saturday. He was born in Thornton, Wash.
He served in the infantry during World War II and was a farmer.
He was a member of the American Legion, Masonic Lodge No. 188, the 84th Division Railsplitters Society and the Malden Community Church.
Mr. Henning is survived by his wife of 48 years, Alice; two sisters, Winnifred Appell of Medical Lake and Geraldine McGinnis of Spokane; and a brother, Boyd Henning of Camano Island, Wash.

Raymond Kurowski Spokane
Funeral Mass for Raymond J. Kurowski was Monday at St. Anthony Catholic Church. Burial was at Holy Cross Cemetery.
Mr. Kurowski who was born in Stephen, Minn., died Thursday. He was 78.
He was a 44-year Spokane resident and served in the Army during World War II.
He had worked as a cement mason for various construction companies and was a member of the Knights of Columbus, St. Anthony’s Men’s Club, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 51 and the St. Vincent DePaul Society.
Mr. Kurowski is survived by his wife of 49 years, Theresa; two sons, Robert of Spokane and Stephen of Portland; a brother, Harry of Grand Forks, N.D.; and two grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Anthony Catholic Church or the St. Vincent DePaul Society.
Frank Rogers Spokane
Memorial service for Frank G. Rogers, 78, will be held at a later date. Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Rogers, who was born in Lind, Wash., died Friday.
He was a 43-year Spokane resident and worked as a home builder in Ritzville, Wash., for several years and later worked as a house painter for various Spokane companies as well as independently.
He had served in the Army during World War II in France.
Mr. Rogers is survived by his wife of 41 years, Minnie; six daughters, Janice, Gloria, Barbara, Sharon, Pam and Joanne; a brother, Walter; two sisters, Blanche and Lillian; and numerous grandchildren.
Gilbert Johnson Spokane
No service will be held for Gilbert R. Johnson, 81, at his request. HennesseySmith Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Johnson, who was born in Pocatello, Idaho, died May 13.
He graduated from Rogers High School and Kinman Business University and served in the Army during World War II in Germany.
He worked for Burlington Northern Railroad and Great Northern Railway as a chief clerk, retiring after 43 years.
Mr. Johnson is survived by his wife of 25 years, Annette; two daughters, Karen and Debbie; three stepchildren; two brothers, Cecil and Leslie Johnson, both of Spokane; a sister, Harriet Mercer of Spokane; five grandchildren, five stepgrandchildren and three stepgreat-grandchildren.
