Toronto Argonauts quarterback Doug Flutie won his sixth Canadian Football League Most Outstanding Player award. Flutie, 35, led the CFL in passing with 5,505 yards and 47 touchdowns.

Ray Young and Matt Barnes, considered two of the top prep basketball prospects in California, have signed national letters of intent to attend UCLA next fall.

The World Golf Foundation announced a multimillion-dollar plan to make golf more accessible and affordable to youngsters. The initiative, called The First Tee, plans to create hundreds of new golf facilities for children over the next 10 years.
