Area Girls Basketball

After opening the season 0-4, Colfax is one win away from clinching the Northeast A League championship.

After a 49-42 win over Reardan Friday night, Colfax sits atop the league with a 4-0 record, 10-8 overall. Reardan is its closest pursuer at 3-2 league, 9-10 overall.

The Indians got off to an early lead, thanks to Kristen Turner’s 12 first quarter points. Laura Widman’s 11 points in the third helped put the Bulldogs back in the lead. Widman also finished with eight rebounds.

NWC was missing starting point gaurd Natasha Nicaloi after she was hit by a car before the game. Nicaloi was not seriously injured.

Jolin Pilling and Abi Ogle had five steals apiece and Sara Mountague added 12 rebounds for the Crusaders. Stephanie Cofer and Allyson Cofer combined for 20 rebounds.
