‘Titanic’ Keeps ‘U.S. Marshals’ In Its Wake
“Titanic” edged out a newcomer and stayed on top of the box office rankings for the 12th week in a row as it neared the title of North America’s all-time box office champion.
James Cameron’s epic took in $18 million last weekend. The film has earned $444.6 million in North America, trailing only the $461 million collected by “Star Wars” in its original release and re-release last year.
“U.S. Marshals,” the sequel to “The Fugitive,” was given the best chance to unseat “Titanic” in current box office revenues, and it came close. “U.S. Marshals” opened at No. 2 with earnings of $17 million.
