Girl Faces Another Weapons Charge
A 13-year-old Kooskia girl accused of pointing a gun at a Clearwater Valley Elementary School teacher’s aide has been charged with another felony involving a firearm.
A new charge of aggravated assault was added to an attempted aggravated assault count and five misdemeanors facing the teenager. She pleaded innocent Thursday.
Court documents do not explain the new charge except to say she is accused of threatening “by word or act to do violence … with a Beretta .380-caliber gun.”
She was charged with attempted aggravated assault for allegedly pulling the gun from her purse during class April 6, pointing it at the back of a teacher’s aide and mouthing the words, “Bang, bang.”
Idaho County Prosecutor Jeff Payne said the new charge stems from an incident that occurred the same day. The alleged victim in that case was another student, he said.
The “attempted” part of that count comes from the aide not knowing of the potential danger. An aggravated assault means the person is aware of imminent danger and feels threatened, Payne explained.
