School Levy Elections Today

Polls will be open in much of North Idaho today for voters to choose school board trustees and decide the fate of school levies.

In Coeur d’Alene, voters will consider a two-year $19.81 million levy that would pay for major renovations at Coeur d’Alene High School, construction of an elementary school, remodeling of Dalton Gardens Elementary School and $2.4 million in other facility needs.

Incumbent Vern Newby and Ginny Hughes are running for the Zone 2 school trustee position, while incumbent John Goedde and Mark Storey are seeking the Zone 3 post.

Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.

In Post Falls, polling places will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Incumbent Kevin Schneidmiller and Richard Wheeler are vying for the Zone 2 trustee seat, while incumbent Richard Wallace and Ted Corder are running for the Zone 3 position.

In the Lakeland School District, longtime incumbent Joy Porter and Raymonde Painter are squaring off for the Zone 1 trustee position. Lakeland voters also will consider a $28,000 supplemental levy to pay for activity buses. Polls will be open from noon to 8 p.m.

Wallace Elementary School will be open from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. for voting in the school trustee Zone 5 election. Incumbent Chuck Roberts is opposed by Rona Liller, a write-in candidate.

Sam Cummings faces incumbent Charles Zook in the race for St. Maries School Board Zone 3 trustee. Polls there will be open from noon to 8 p.m.

Pinehurst Elementary school in Kellogg will be open from noon to 7 p.m. for voting. Incumbent Mark Cowles and Karen Keller are on the ballot for the Kellogg School Board.

In Bonner County, polls will be open from noon to 8 p.m. for Priest River voters to choose between Eric Eldenberg and Leonard Parenteau for the school board position held by Teresa Asbill, who is not seeking re-election.
