Mom’S Mustard
Call it a mustard of memory.
Cathy Paupst at Max’s Italian Subs in the Spokane Valley makes a spicy-sweet, mayonnaise-based mustard from a recipe she learned from her mother, Fern, who passed away last November.
Along with using the mustard on its sandwiches — including a popular Reuben made with mustard instead of the more typical Thousand Island dressing — Max’s started selling it to the public on Sept. 2.
It would have been Fern Paupst’s 63rd birthday.
Price: $2.99 for 12 ounces.
Available: Max’s Italian Subs, in the Argonne Shopping Center at 9223 E. Montgomery (927-5410).
