Democrats To Nominate Replacement Legislator

Democrats interested in replacing Rep. Larry Watson in the Idaho Legislature are being asked to apply this month.

Watson, D-Wallace, will resign from his District 4 seat on Aug. 30 in order to accept a post on the state Tax Commission. On Aug. 31, precinct committee members will meet in Kellog to select the names of three potential replacements. Those names will be submitted to Gov. Dirk Kempthorne for final selection. If he does not make a decision within 15 days, the names will be returned to the precinct committee for a decision.

Darlene Currie, Legislative District 4 chairman, said interested people should submit resumes to her as soon as possible so there will be adequate time for review. She can be reached at Pinehurst Business Services, (208) 682-3418.

District 4 covers Shoshone and parts of Benewah and Kootenai counties. The legislative appointee will serve the one year remaining in Watson’s two-year term.
