Grunfeld Back In Milwaukee

Ernie Grunfeld, who began his NBA career with the Milwaukee Bucks, was hired as the team’s general manager.

The former New York Knicks president and GM replaces Bob Weinhauer, who was fired this week after two years.

Charles Barkley will return to the Houston Rockets and is almost ready to sign a deal, the team’s owner, Les Alexander, told a Houston radio station.

Also, Kenny Thomas, the Rockets’ top draft pick, has signed a contract. Terms were not disclosed.

The Philadelphia 76ers re-signed forward Harvey Grant then traded him and guard Anthony Parker to the Magic for forward Billy Owens.

Detroit Pistons coach Alvin Gentry completed his staff by naming Mo McHone and Larry Drew as assistants.
