Hearing Planned In Shooting Death

A hearing to discuss circumstances of Scott Yager’s involvement in the shooting death of Linda Huff has been set for this spring, a judge said Monday.

First District Court Judge James Judd will use details about aggravating and mitigating circumstances to determine if Yager should be sentenced to death.

A Kootenai County jury found Yager guilty last Friday of shooting the 33-year-old Idaho State Police officer to death last June. Life in prison is the 35-year-old Rathdrum man’s only other option.

A formal sentencing hearing will be held following the aggravation/mitigation hearing. A date has not yet been set.
