Harbor Properties Plans Changes At Schweitzer

From Staff Reports

Harbor Properties executives met with Schweitzer Mountain Resort managers this week to plan some short-term changes.

On Thursday, the new owners announced several changes, including:

Improved grooming. The resort hired new employees and bought a new groomer so all groomers can operate daily. The resort also bought a Nordic track groomer to improve the cross-country trails.

Prompt openings. More staff has been added in the mornings to help get the mountain open on time. The resort also bought three snowmobiles to quickly get staff to positions.

Full season pass reciprocity. Pass holders now can ski free at Harbor’s other resorts, which are Stevens Pass and Mission Ridge ski areas.

Lift improvements. The ski area will build a shed for quad lift chairs so the chairs can be removed. That will allow the lift to run continuously during icing conditions and keep it from freezing up.

Snow removal. The resort bought more snow removal equipment.

Better signs to help guide skiers to the parking areas and around the mountain.

Changes due this summer include water and sewer improvements, parking improvements and a new roof for Green Gables Lodge.
