Benewah County St. Maries
Player and sponsor fees for the St. Maries Softball Association will be discounted if paid before March 31. The board of directors set 1999 season player fees at $20 and team sponsor fees at $150 at the Jan. 15 meeting. After March 31, player fees will be $25 and sponsor fees $175. Bonner County Sandpoint
A public hearing will be Feb. 4 at the Sandpoint Community Hall to discuss the level of Lake Pend Oreille. The Idaho Department of Fish and Game is looking for public comment on its request that the lake be kept four feet above normal for the next seven winters in order to protect kokanee fisheries. Representatives from Fish and Game, the Army Corps of Engineers and Northwest Power Planning Council, along with officials from the governor’s office and Idaho’s congressional delegation will be at the meeting.
Boundary County Bonners Ferry

Kootenai County Coeur d’Alene
The Idaho Wildlife Council will host the North Idaho Sportsman’s Expo and Horn Show on Feb. 6-7 at the Kootenai County Fairgrounds. Show hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday. Exhibits will include taxidermy, wildlife art, archery, gun safes, ATVs and hunting and fishing equipment. The event also will feature an antler/horn display and competition. Antlers and horns may be dropped off Friday from 6 to 9 p.m. or 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, and may be picked up after 3 p.m. Sunday.
Latah County Moscow
Representatives from the Idaho Commission for National and Community Service will meet with AmeriCorps representatives 9-10:30 a.m. Thursday in the Appaloosa Room of the University of Idaho Student Union Building. Shoshone County Enaville
An informal meeting to learn about proposed changes in hunting and fishing regulations with the Idaho Department of Fish and Game will be Jan. 30 at 7 a.m. at the Enaville Resort. IDFG Conservation Officer Dwain Lowry is initiating the series of breakfasts to bring officials, hunters and anglers together. IDFG representatives, Lowry and Conservation Officer Doyle Reynolds, will attend.
WASHINGTON
Pend Oreille County Newport
Newport School District residents will vote Feb. 2 on a two-year operating levy that would collect $550,000 in 2000 and $590,000 in 2001. The estimated cost would be $1.87 per $1,000 of assessed property value in each year of the levy.
Spokane County Medical Lake
The Medical Lake Kiwanis Club is looking for nominees for 1998 Senior Citizen of the Year. The award is given at the Kiwanis Valentine’s Dinner on Feb. 14. MONTANA
Lincoln County Troy
A panel is being formed to decide a long-term plan of action for the two-year grant received by Troy schools. The panel will make improvements in the educational system at Yaak, Sylvanite and McCormick elementary schools. Panel membership will consist of the project coordinators, superintendent, technology coordinator, board of trustees, building principals, student council members, senior citizens, local business representatives and representatives from each of the schools.
