Contest-Winning Sauce Gets Panel Thumbs-Up

Rick Bonino Food Editor

Californian Todd Leaf took basic Kraft barbecue sauce and added chilies, spices and brown sugar. The result: first place in Kraft’s recent “Flavor Search” contest, with the sauce appearing in stores across the country with his picture on the label.

Most members of The Spokesman-Review’s reader food panel were pushovers for the spicy/smoky/sweet sauce, too (even though all we had to serve it with was frozen breaded zucchini).

Guess you could call Leaf a master of his Kraft.
