Miller, Schaller Earn Eagle Scout Awards
Charles E. Miller, son of Patrick and Renee Miller of Coeur d’Alene, and John E. Schaller, son of Marc and Joann Schaller of Coeur d’Alene, and grandson of Warren and Terry Schaller of Spirit Lake, have earned their Eagle Scout Awards, the highest honor received from the Boy Scouts of America.
Both are members of Troop 3 in Coeur d’Alene and have been in the Scouting program for twelve years, beginning with Tiger Cubs and continuing with Troop 3 as assistant scoutmasters. They are recent graduates of Lake City High School.
Miller’s project involved working with the Forest Service coordinating a pilot mountain bike patrol on Canfield Mountain last summer.
Schaller, restored and constructed the Marie Creek Trail in cooperation with the Forest Service.
Miller will be working as a nature director this summer at Lost Lake Boy Scout Camp near Fairbanks, Alaska, and plans to attend North Idaho College this fall, majoring in forestry/wildlife management.
Schaller is working at several summer jobs, including the Coeur d’Alene Sailing Club, and will study liberal arts at the University of San Diego this fall.
