Developer Wants Lots Annexed

A developer has asked to add about 124 lots on 39 acres to Rathdrum.

Timberline LLC submitted a request to the Rathdrum Planning Department to annex the land, which lies west of the Lakeland Pines subdivision and south of Lakeland High School. The zoning the company has asked for is R2, which allows for multifamily residences, but in the project’s description, the company said it plans to build single-family dwellings.

“We haven’t had any large plats for a number of years,” said Planning Administrator Jan Hale. Instead, the existing subdivisions in town have been filling up, she said.

The Rathdrum Planning and Zoning Commission will hold a public hearing on the issue on July 21 at 7 p.m. at city hall.

The Timberline official involved in the project could not be reached for comment Thursday.
