Produce expected to be available this week at area farmers’ markets (depending on weather; shop early for best selection):
Spokane MarketPlace (Wednesday and Saturday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., DeSmet and Ruby): cherries, spring greens, radishes, green onions, herbs, sprouts, rhubarb, asparagus, English cucumbers, green beans, edible flowers, apples.
The New Farmers’ Market (Wednesday and Saturday, 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., First Covenant Church parking lot at Second and Division in Spokane): honey, bedding plants (tomatoes, peppers, squash, cucumbers, eggplant, basil variety), herb plants, fruit and berry bushes, collards, kale, salad mix, mustard green, spinach, rhubarb, water cress, bok choy, lettuce (red leaf, green leaf, green butter, red butter), fresh cut herbs, edible flowers, arugula, white radish, red radish, green onions.
Kootenai County Farmers’ Market (Wednesday 5 to 7:30 p.m., Saturday 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., Highway 95 and Prairie Avenue in Coeur d’Alene): lettuce mix, edible flowers, herb plants, radishes, endive, escerole, green onions, lettuce (romaine, green leaf, red), kale, mustard greens, parsley, herbs, basil, broccoli, rhubarb, colored greens, Swiss chard, baby spinach, hot house tomatoes, arugula, cauliflower, baby carrots, beets, kettle corn.
Farmers’ Market at Sandpoint (Wednesday 3 to 5:30 p.m., Saturday 9 a.m. to noon, at Farmin Park, Third and Main): assorted lettuces, salad mix, radishes, garlic greens, baby onions, bok choy, assorted herbs, rhubarb, asparagus, spinach, baby onions.
