Woman Reports Attack On Centennial Trail

A 36-year-old woman told Spokane County sheriff’s deputies she was attacked on the Centennial Trail earlier this month by a man who had exposed himself to her on a previous occasion.

The woman told deputies the attack occurred June 13 as she jogged on the trail between Sullivan and Flora roads. She said a white man jumped out of some brush, grabbed her and tried to drag her into the bushes.

A bicyclist rode up as the two struggled, and the attacker ran away, she said.

The woman told deputies she had seen the same man running around near the trail in the nude about three weeks before the attack, and that he had followed her back to her car.

She didn’t report that incident, or the attack, until this week when a friend urged her to do so, deputies said.

The woman said the attacker is in his 30s, about 5 feet 7 inches tall and 170 pounds. He has blond hair and hazel eyes. At the time of the attack, he sported a mustache and a clean-cut appearance.
