Cda Schools Cited For Arts Program

From Staff

A presidential committee has named the Coeur d’Alene School District one of the best in the nation for arts education.

The President’s Committee on the Arts and Humanities singled out 91 school districts after a two-year study. The Boise Independent School District was the only other Idaho district cited.

The study said Coeur d’Alene’s arts programs are strong because of community support, continuity in staff, a strong foundation of elementary arts programs, opportunities for advanced study, and a superintendent who is committed to arts education.

“In the 1990s, it has been building a forward-looking, technologyintegrated program of arts education that is firmly rooted in a century-old tradition of support,” the report says.
