Garold L. Spencer
Age: 53
Experience: After two years as an officer in Sauk Village, Ill., Spencer went to work as a patrolman in 1970 at the Oklahoma City Police Department.
He is currently a major and division commander over the Investigations Bureau. He is also a lawyer.
Spencer has worked in or led virtually every division of the 1,050-officer Oklahoma City force.
Five years ago, Spencer was the commander of the Emergency Response Team during the 18-day rescue effort following the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building bombing that killed 168 people.
Education: B.S. in police administration from Oklahoma City University; master’s degree in criminal justice administration from Oklahoma City University; law degree from Oklahoma City University School of Law.
Extensive specialized training, including FBI training courses, courses in emergency management and a 10-month Police Administration Training Program at Northwestern University.
