Downtown Streets May Be Modified
The Coeur d’Alene Urban Renewal Agency heard a proposal Wednesday that eventually could expand the downtown core by giving two downtown streets the same features as Sherman and Lakeside avenues.
Malcolm Johnstone, executive director of the Coeur d’Alene Downtown Association, said he wants to start developing a master plan that could widen Coeur d’Alene and Indiana avenues.
The work could include lighting, benches and water fountains like those that are in place on Sherman and Lakeside. It would expand the downtown’s core, he said.
In other business, the Urban Renewal Agency asked Deputy City Attorney Nancy Stricklin to research who owns the land under various spurs of railroad tracks downtown so the agency can plan for the future.
