Before Chip Roos, Bonner County switched sheriffs as often as Oprah changes her dress size. The ol’ Rooster brought stability and professionalism to BCSD in his 11 years as sheriff. And humor. I once caught him outside the scene of an ax murder. Shaking his head, he said: “It’s gorier in there than the `Halloween’ videos I have at home.” Chip admits his skin isn’t thick any more. And that he won’t seek re-election because various hubbubs have taken a toll. That’s too bad. He’s a good sheriff. His detractors will find that out after he leaves office.
