Schweitzer Mountain

Closing: April 9 2000-2001 pass rates: Adult passes are on sale for $249 adults and $179 juniors (ages 7-17). Buy now and use it for the rest of this season beginning March 20. Prices will be valid through March 31. Beginning June 1, the regular-season pass rates go into effect at $649 (adults) and $399 (juniors).

Events: March 17-19 - The first St. Patrick’s Day Stomp Games are coming, guaranteed to be one of the biggest skiing/snowboarding events ever at Schweitzer. More than $2,000 in cash prizes will be awarded. For more information point your browser to www.schweitzer.com or call 208-263-9555.

March 24-26 - The Festival Cup, a yearly happening that benefits the Schweitzer Alpine Racing School and the Festival at Sandpoint, has been expanded as a Pro Am ski event. For more information: 1-888-265-4554.

April 8-9 - The Caribbean Carnival, an end-of-the-season blowout that’s still in the organizing stage.

Silver Mountain

Closing: April 9, but will stay open Saturdays as long as conditions permit and interest is there.

2000-2001 pass rates: Now selling adult passes for $199. Juniors, seniors and college-student passes for $189. Good to use for the rest of the 1999-2000 season. Family pass (two adults, one child) costs $550. The promotion runs through May 1.

Events: Sunday - Season-pass holders can bring a buddy who skis free. The event ties into season-pass promotion, where current pass holders save $20 on next year’s pass. Sign up five friends and get a free pass.

April 2 - Pass holders appreciation day. Silver will thank its regulars with a barbecue and live music from Two Slim and The Tail Draggers and Civilized Animal.

49 Degrees North

Closing: April 9

2000-2001 pass rates: Now selling adult passes (ages 16-64) for $199 and youth passes (7-15) for $99, which entitles free skiing for the rest of this season. Promotion runs through May 5.

Events: Saturday -The annual Bavarian downhill race. A four-person team, picked in a lottery, share one pitcher of beer and ski a race course. The foursome top it off by drinking another pitcher after the race. Racers must be 21 and older. Registration is from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday and race time is 3:30 p.m.

March 25 - The annual Hawaiian Daze Celebration, including the popular “Slush Pond” competition were skiers race across a pond of slushy water. Also, the Wendle Suzuki big-air contest will be held with $2,000 in cash awards and prizes up for grabs.

April 1 - The all-you-can-eat oyster feed. The 49 Degrees North crew will travel to the Coast the day before and haul back about 3,000 pounds of fresh oysters on the half shell.

April 3-9 It’s Spring Fest time where folks ski free all week. There’s also free concerts with headliner The Suicide Machines performing the last day of the season.

Mount Spokane

Closing: April 9

2000-2001 pass rates: Season tickets are $199. After the first two purchased by one family, the price on the third pass is $149. Passes not good for remainder of this season. Promotion ends August 31.

Events: March 25 - Big Air Competition.

Lookout Ski Resort

Closing: April 9, but could be later.

2000-2001 pass rates: Season tickets are $129 adults (ages 19-up) and $99 (7-18) junior. Buy now and use it for the rest of this season beginning March 20. Family of three (two adults, one junior) pay $299. Promotion ends April 30.

Events: Continuing - Every Thursday is 2-for-1 day.

April 2 - Snow kayak races.

April 8-9 - Race the Face Snowmobile competition. Half the area will be open for snowmobiling and the other for skiing. Cash prizes. For more information: Silver Valley Snowmobile Association at www.svsaa.org.
