Nic Soccer Teams Take Second, Third
Trina Hodo and Katie Peters each scored a goal to lead Edmonds to a 2-0 victory over North Idaho College Sunday in the championship match of the Northwest Athletic Association of Community Colleges women’s soccer tournament in Bothell, Wash.
Hodo put the Tritons up 1-0 with a netter from 30 yards out over the head of Cardinals keeper Kathy Cottrell just 4 minutes, 32 seconds into the game.
Peters was left alone on a defensive breakdown and buried a shot from 20 yards out at the 59:35 mark.
NIC had three shots hit the crossbar in the second half.
Men’s soccer North Idaho placed third at the men’s NWAACC tournament in Bothell with a 3-0 victory over Highline. Drew Blossen, with an assist from Jeremy Kay, put the Cardinals up 1-0 at the 30-minute mark. Luke Rakow nailed a penalty kick 10 minutes later to put NIC up 2-0 at the half.
Lawson Tate hooked up with Kip Sharbono 15 minutes into the second half to cap the scoring.
