Dredging Plan Cleared
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has decided the proposed dredging of the navigation channel in the lower Snake and Clearwater rivers is not likely to harm the environment and will boost the local economy.
The agency has released a biological assessment of its plan to dredge the river channels and McNary Dam’s pool on the Columbia River this winter.
The confluence of the Snake and Clearwater rivers has a chronic sedimentation problem. The $1.8 million project is scheduled to begin Dec. 15.
