Schwerin’S Fast Start Creates Sure Win

Cole Schwerin scored twice in the opening 16 minutes Thursday to lead Coeur d’Alene (7-2, 4-1) to a 3-0 boys soccer win at Moscow (4-2, 2-2) in the North Idaho League.

CdA also scored on an own goal that ricocheted off a Bears player after goalkeeper Joe Dudley made a save.

Dudley also stopped three one-on-one situations.

Also in the league, Anthony Facciano had a hat trick, doubling his scoring output for the season, and Lake City (5-3, 4-1) rolled to a 5-1 win at Post Falls (0-8-1, 0-5). Dylan Hill, who played goalkeeper in the first half, set up Facciano’s two second-half goals… . Bryce Ingram scored on a penalty kick at 60 minutes to allow Lewiston (4-4, 3-3) to tie Sandpoint at 1 in a temper-filled match at Lewiston. The Bengals reported that Sandpoint (6-1, 3-1) had at least three red cards and lost its assistant coach to an ejection.

Volleyball

Jessica Vasquez had 25 assists and served 19 for 20, and Emily Bennett had 14 kills while serving 13 for 13 as Moscow (6-2, 3-0) notched a 3-0 sweep of visiting West Valley (1-6, 1-3) in the Border League… . Also in the league, Karlie Pein led Colville (4-2, 3-1) in four categories and had key blocks in the first and third games during a 15-13, 15-6, 15-11 win at Post Falls (10-5, 2-2). PF led the first game 7-2 and rallied to tie the third game at 11 with nine consecutive points. PF’s Aubree Johnson had a match-high 11 kills… . Zoe Catsiff totaled eight kills and 17 assists to lead Cheney (3-3, 3-1) to a 3-1 win over visiting Coeur d’Alene (4-10, 1-3). The Blackhawks won despite injuries to two hitters. CdA’s Lorin Griffits had 12 kills.

Taylor Cady had eight kills and Julie Bateman added six digs to lead Bonners Ferry (3-2) to a 15-5, 15-4 win over visiting Timberlake (1-3) in the Intermountain League. BF served 97 percent… . Also in the IML, Jennifer Luchini had nine assists, four aces and served nine consecutive points during the second game to lead Kellogg (2-3) to a 15-5, 15-4 win over visiting Priest River (0-5).

Charlotte Scofield had six aces and Ashley Ruen added 15 digs to help Clark Fork (10-0, 3-0) to a 15-5, 16-14 win over visiting Mullan (0-2) in the North Star League.

Cara Schlepp had six kills as Kootenai (4-5) recorded a 15-0, 8-15, 15-3 non-league win over host Lakeside at Plummer. Krista Sperber had two aces for the Knights (0-4).

Girls soccer

Kara Jordan totaled two goals and one assist to lead University (7-0) to a 3-2 non-league win over visiting Lake City (7-2-1). Ashley Troxel scored a pair of second-half goals 4 minutes apart to cut into the Titans’ 3-0 lead… . In another non-leaguer, Chelsea Zenner had a career-high five goals and Eija Hodgin added a career-high four assists to guide Moscow (7-2) to an 8-4 win over visiting Pullman (3-2-2). Zenner’s previous high for one match was three goals.
