U.S. Open course ‘ridiculous’

The Spokesman-Review

Shinnecock is ridiculous. I understand the concept/history of the U.S. Open; narrow fairways, long, deep rough but some of the contours and pin placements at Shinnecock were beyond what I think even miniature, putt-putt courses would include in their designs. In my opinion, this was not a test of golf, it was a test of luck. This was not an enjoyable thing to watch and if the pros could speak their minds they would be very critical of the course.

Whatever the tournament, the course should reward good golf shots and not penalize because the pin is almost inaccessible.
