‘Celebration Sunday’ at Wesleyan Church

The Spokane Valley Wesleyan Church will host a “Celebration Sunday” event during the 10:30 a.m. worship service. The quartet New Anointing will perform.

The church is restarting its youth group, kid’s club and small groups. The congregation also is celebrating the completion of the church’s first Upward Soccer season. The season, sponsored by Valley Wesleyan and Valley Open Bible, drew about 130 children. “It just couldn’t have been better for our first year,” said Valley Wesleyan Pastor Darrell Cole.

Fall craft fair

The St. John Vianney Roman Catholic Church Altar Society will host its annual craft fair next Saturday and Oct. 24. Sale hours will be from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday and from 9 a.m. to noon Oct. 24. The event will feature crafts, baked goods and other foods. Several items will be raffled off, including a handmade quilt, Christmas wreath and Nativity set.

The church is at 503 N. Walnut Road.

New pastor to be installed

The Rev. Lauri Clark Strait will be formally installed as the pastor of Opportunity Christian Church during a special worship service Sunday at 3 p.m. A reception will follow.

The church, 708 N. Pines Road, also will host a book and bake sale today from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
