Eastern heats up

RIVERSIDE, Calif. – Rodney Stuckey scored 30 points and Kellen Williams added 17 as Eastern Washington beat UC Riverside 85-70 Saturday night.

It was the third win in a row for the Eagles (4-3), who sent the Highlanders (0-6) to their 10th loss in a row dating back to last season.

Stuckey led a blistering attack from the Eagles, who shot 58.5 percent from the field. He made 10 of 12 field goals, 7 of 9 free throws and all three of his 3-point attempts.

Rickey Porter led Riverside with 24 points and five steals. The Highlanders shot just 39.1 percent from the field.

Eastern used a 16-5 second-half run to break away. The Eagles led by as many as 18 points in the second half after leading just 37-35 at halftime.

Paul Butorac led Eastern with nine rebounds and added 13 points and five blocks. Deuce Smith had eight assists.

Eastern had 30 turnovers, but won the rebounding 42-33.
