St. John Vianney hosts 40th annual spaghetti feed
This isn’t any old spaghetti dinner.
The annual feast at St. John Vianney’s started out as a fund-raiser for the school, but has evolved into a social event for the parish and the community. It takes a team of dedicated volunteers and the church will host it for the 40th time this Sunday.
And the food… first generation Italian American Etter Milla and his crew will be in charge of the spaghetti and meatballs. There will also be salad, rolls, cake, spumoni ice cream, milk and coffee.
Tickets are $6 for adults, $5 for senior and $20 for families, and dinner will be served from 11:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. in the parish hall at 503 N. Walnut Road. For more information, call Joan Greer at 924-1742.
Wine, chocolates at tasting
Knipprath Cellars will host a special wine tasting this weekend to get you warmed up for Valentine’s Day.
The winery will pair its wines with chocolate and show off its award-winning dessert wines Au Chocolat and La V during special tastings Saturday from 6 to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 3 to 6 p.m. You must call ahead by 5 p.m. on Friday to let them know you’re coming.
The winery is at 5634 E. Commerce St. For more information, call 534-5121.
Berry specials for Valentine’s Day
Here’s a recipe for a sweet Valentine’s Day: Giant red, ripe strawberries and rich chocolate.
Very Very Strawberry has a few specials that can make it that easy, too. Owner Stephanie Vigil, who is also a KHQ TV anchorwoman, said they can deliver six, 12 or 20 strawberries on a silver platter or in willow baskets.
Individual berries will be available at the Davenport Candy Shoppe, Huckleberry’s and Rocket Market beginning Friday. To order, call 443-6248.
